Abstract

Irrigation is an important technological component for agricultural development, however, it is limited for agricultural production in the Bolivian Highland due to the scarce rainfall and the lack of groundwater. Faced with this situation, a sprinkler irrigation system was installed at the Choquenaira Experimental Station in the department of La Paz in order to evaluate the hydraulic behavior related to the uniformity of application, in order to improve agricultural production in the region. The methodology are involved in determining the rate of infiltration, hydraulic design, determination of hydraulic characteristics and analysis of the main evaluation parameters and uniformity of the installation depth of water applied by the spray, sheet pick rain gauges evaporation losses And wind drag and degree of water spraying. The system was installed on an area of 3,500 m2, two lateral lines were taken with six sprinklers. The results show that the spray employees have a variability of behavior concerning downloading issuers give values ranging from 723.52 l h-1 (14.30 pressure mca) to 735.80 l h-1 (pressure Of 14.72 mca) reaching a wet radius of 11 m. Also, the uniformity coefficient was 71.25% overlap or overlap between six sprinklers, the coefficient of variation was 37.47%, the uniformity of distribution of 64.62% lower room with an efficiency of 45.55% application. The results show that it is possible to have an adequate sprinkler irrigation system in high areas such as the Bolivian highland, although it is necessary to care times and hours of application. These results show that the implementation of the irrigation system allows to improve agricultural production, however, due to its low application efficiency, research studies must be continued.
