Abstract

The Tillandsial is a species that provides important ecosystem services, however, it has been suffering significant anthropic predation in the city of Tacna, Peru. The present research aimed to: Assess the ecosystem service of the Tillandsial using the willingness to pay method in two districts of the city of Tacna, Peru. To achieve this, a questionnaire was used to collect the socioeconomic data of the respondents and to estimate the economic valuation of the Tillandsial. Likewise, a binary logistic regression was used to find out which socioeconomic factors affect the willingness to pay for the protection of the Tillandsial. It was shown that the willingness to pay for the protection of the Tillandsial was below S/. 0.50 in both districts. It was concluded that the socioeconomic factors that affected the willingness to pay in the Alto de la Alianza district were gender, age, monthly income and marital status; while in the Ciudad Nueva district they were educational level, employment status, number of family members and marital status.
