Abstract

Part of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions are in the emissions due to burning of a part of the forest biomass for agricultural and livestock purposes. Biomass burning normally occurs at times of land preparation to start agricultural activities. Following a methodology based on the count of heat sources and the relative area that it produces by its potential to produce heat. For this purpose, the methodology of the Intergovernmental Panel of Experts on Climate Change was applied. The GHG emissions of 2007 have been estimated. The results of these estimates have shown that deforestation for the purposes indicated emits 1,665.79 Gg of CO2, especially in the eastern regions of Bolivia, and that at least 24% of the Foci of heat located by the satellites NOAA and MMODIS, correspond to prescribed burning of savannahs.
