Abstract

In drip irrigation it is necessary to carry out the sizing by the geometry of the wet bulb and the humidity to determine the physical and water characteristics of a soil formed by an emitter. The objective of this work was to perform the mathematical modeling of the wet bulb by the technique of surface drip irrigation. The trials were carried out in soil with the method of a point source in open field at the Experimental Station of Choquenaira, belonging to the central high plateau of Bolivia. The mathematical modeling for the saturated zone was the sizing of equations, having a second degree equation, for the maximum diameter reached with a flow rate of 1 l h-1, in the time of eight hours the calculated maximum diameter is 28 cm, and the value observed in the field of 29 cm. For the unsaturated zone, the calculation of vertical depth and horizontal distance was performed using the multiple correlation method, the calculated value for a flow rate of 5 l h-1 and a four-hour irrigation time was 21 cm of calculated depth and the observed one was of 20 cm. The volumetric moisture content was determined by equation sizing, having tridiagonal matrices. For a flow rate of 3 l h-1 the calculated volumetric humidity was 0.52 and the observed humidity was 0.54.
