Abstract

In the Bolivian highland, one of the main sources of economic income is the breeding of livestock that has as main source of food various types of fodder including forage barley from which the expected yield is not reached under the natural conditions of the region. That is why, the study was conducted at the Choquenaira Experimental Station, located in the municipality of Viacha. The main objective was to evaluate the application of biol with sprinkler irrigation and to dry land in two cutting periods in order to establish differences in agronomic, bromatological and dry matter yields. The methodology consisted in the use of forage barley of the variety IBTA-80 to which 0%, 25%, 50% and 75% bovine biol was applied with irrigation by sprinkler irrigation, resulting in eight treatments arranged in a block design at Chance with split plot arrangement. The results obtained show that by applying biol higher yields are obtained in the first cut, since at the level of 75% of biol, 7.30 t ha-1 was obtained to dry land, and with irrigation 14 t ha-1. The nutritional composition shows high protein content from 28% to dry matter at 75% of biol and 24.3% with spray irrigation at 25% of biol. Likewise, the crude fiber content with dry production is 33.94% at 0% of biol and 34.34% at 25% of biol under irrigation, at the first cut, the energy value reached 202.39 Kcal 100 gM-1 to 0% of dry biol and 206.35 Kcal 100 gM-1 to 50% of biol under irrigation in the second cut.
